Without a livestock, more precisely the steppe goat, there is will no cashmere, but at the same time, excess amount of goat means fast decertation in already deserting steppe of Mongolia.

Since, cashmere became a global demand in last 20 years, the herders started to raise more goats than other livestock to support their lives. Mongolia.

Mongolia has 65 million livestock including horse, camel, cow, sheep, and goats. We call them national 5 livestock. Goat counts 25 million according to national statistics of 2023. Interestingly, the population of Mongolia is only 3 million.

With 25 million goats, we could say we have an abundance of cashmere resource, but on the other hand the big numbers come with disadvantage as mentioned above. Mongolia exports raw cashmere to different countries such as China and Italy. But in recent years, the final product production started to take over in Mongolia and we are a small part of this community.

By producing in Mongolia, with the resources from Mongolian goats gives many advantages to local producers and for customers. We both know where the resource is from and whether the products is 100% cashmere that can be degraded in the land which is a big factor for our concern.

However, the bottom line is to have the balance of livestock and the production of cashmere in the future by holding the number of goats and production in limits.
